Artist Statement (Blog #1)
Hello, people reading my blog. Nice to meet you!
My name is Yufan Liu and I was born on September 28, 1999 in good 'ole Brooklyn.
I moved around a lot as a child. I lived in China until I was about 4 and then moved back to Brooklyn. Then, the Summer after I finished 1st grade, I moved with my parents to York, PA. Life was great there, there was a lot of open space and I went to 2 different schools, the latter being the better one. And then again, in the beginning of 4th grade, me, my parents and my brother moved back to Brooklyn.
Growing up, my interests and future aspirations changed constantly. I wanted to become a teacher, a detective, an author, a vet, and so on and so forth. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life (and still don't).
I've always been interested in the Film/Media industry. It's fascinating seeing actors go into a character and can switch between their character's personality and themselves.
I've always been interested in acting and that slowly evolved into wanting to become a voice actor. I watch a lot of anime and things of that nature, so it inspired me to pursue that as a career. I also feel that I can be much better, acting-wise, with my voice than with my overall facial/body. I can be very stiff when it comes to acting out something in real life. At first, I was going to major in Film, but I realized that if I wanted to pursue voice acting, I would and should major in Media because it has more opportunities and is better for the career I have in mind.
I guess that's all I have to write for my Artist Statement. It's a little hard to write about myself without oversharing (or under-sharing). See you on the flip-side!
